My favorite place to be (other than with my wife and kids) is 1,000 miles from civilization with nothing but a backpack and hiking shoes. For years, my mentor invited me on an international trip, but I always made excuses about not having the time or money. One year, I finally said yes, and it completely changed my perspective. I realized that while you can always find time and make money, you cannot create the experiences, memories, and adventures you hold yourself back from.
Since then, I have made it a priority to travel internationally every year and push myself into new adventures. Whether it is hiking in remote areas, trying new foods, or learning about different cultures, I seek experiences that expand my perspective and challenge my comfort zone. Traveling with others who share this curiosity makes the journey even more meaningful. This passion informs my work, helping me guide clients in building financial plans that allow them to pursue their own dreams and adventures.
I love being a catalyst for change in people’s lives. I strive to uncover what will truly help anyone I speak with and connect them to people or ideas that can make a difference. I guide people through the process of defining their goals, developing a plan, and actively monitoring it to stay on track. What I find most rewarding is seeing the difference it makes in their lives by helping them gain confidence, make informed decisions, and ultimately achieve their vision of an ideal life. Financial planning is more than numbers; it is about empowering people to live with purpose and security while building a legacy for the future.
In my first book One For All: How to Systemize Kindness, Grow Your Network, and Support Others Like It’s Your Job, I walk people through a 5-step process for making kindness, networking, and meaningful relationships second nature – no guesswork, no randomness, just real impact.
I’m married to my wife Bridgette, and we live in Overland Park, Kansas with our children, Grant and Emily. Outside of work, you’ll find me actively giving back through board service and mentoring within the financial planning community. I’ve completed three halfmarathons, captained a team for seven years in the BikeMS rides across Missouri and Kansas, and I stay active with sand volleyball, golf, and hiking. I enjoy multiday hikes during my international travels in places like Chile, Bhutan, Peru, Iceland, and Namibia.
Travel and challenge fuel me. I believe in setting goals and then living them out, whether through international adventures or helping clients plan for theirs. That same drive to explore and connect now guides how I serve families in preserving and growing their financial stories across generations.
I am deeply involved in my community and passionate about giving back. I have served in leadership roles with the Overland Park South Rotary Club, including Treasurer, Chairman of the Board, and Past President, and I have contributed to events like Jazz in the Woods and SoJo Summerfest. I also serve on boards for Growing Futures Early Education and participate in programs like Top Gun Kansas City and the Centurions Leadership Program to support the growth and development of the Kansas City area.
Over the years, I have supported Kansas State University through leadership roles on multiple alumni boards and advisory committees, and I have been recognized for my community and professional contributions with honors such as the KSU Entrepreneur Award, serving as a commencement speaker, and being named a 2023 Alumni Fellow for the College of Health and Human Ecology. I continue to serve on committees and initiatives that help students, families, and the broader community thrive.
