I never intended to be a financial advisor. Growing up as the oldest child of an entrepreneurial financial advisor who loved his work, I was determined to do something different. I earned a degree in international marketing, dreaming of a warm climate and a career that would let me travel, but graduating during the dot-com crash changed everything. As a new mother, I moved back home to Kansas City and joined my father’s firm “temporarily” until I could find a real job. What I didn’t expect was to actually enjoy the work and to become fascinated by the challenges of running a wealth management firm.
After 11 years in Kansas City, I moved to Phoenix with my children, bringing my role with me and embracing virtual meetings long before they became the norm. The move gave me the flexibility to pursue my own goals while continuing to support our clients and team.
Later, as a single mom of four, I faced the difficult reality of divorce, learning firsthand about financial insecurity, legal protection, and emotional resilience. Though it was a painful chapter, it deepened my empathy and gave me valuable insight that has guided my second marriage and that I now share with clients navigating life’s most challenging transitions.
I have a compassionate understanding of the unique needs of divorced women, female entrepreneurs, blended families, and families with special needs children. I strive to empower individuals and families to achieve financial confidence and clarity. I am committed to providing personalized guidance, fostering long-term relationships built on trust, and helping clients navigate life’s financial decisions with knowledge and peace of mind.
I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with industry leaders through service on TD Ameritrade Institutional’s Operations Panel and Orion Advisor Services’ advisory board, offering insights to strengthen their platforms for advisory firms. I am also a credentialed member of the National Association of Plan Advisors and a founding member of the High Impact Financial Operations Network (HIFON), a community for COOs of financial planning firms. Sharing knowledge is something I value deeply. I’ve contributed to multiple industry conferences, covering topics such as operations, leadership, and technology.
I love cooking and baking, traveling with my husband, movies and reading. My husband and I believe that authentic community is really important and continue to host an annual hotdog party for our neighbors to help people on our block engage with one another. We’ve also thrown a pancake party, a bbq for charity, and host open-invite family holiday feasts for all of our teenage and young adult children to show up with friends and significant others, or anyone else who doesn’t have a place to feel loved and included. We are constantly widening our circle and lengthening our table.
I volunteer with The Joy Bus in Phoenix, delivering fresh meals and companionship to homebound cancer patients. I’m a member of Collab Culture, a community of women who value connection over competition, and I’m also a founding member and co-leader of Peoria Professional Women for Good, a hyper-local giving group. Mentorship is another passion of mine. I’ve presented at the Financial Planning Association of Greater Kansas City’s Career Day, Utah Valley University’s Colloquium class, and other financial planning organizations and schools investing in the next generations of advisors, helping students identify careers that align with their natural strengths and abilities. I also teach an annual workshop to my local Girl Scouts troop on financial literacy, so they can earn their financial literacy badges.
