“Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved.”

– Thomas S. Monson

From a young age, I learned that everyone’s circumstances and experiences are unique. When I was born, my father was working several jobs to make ends meet, and my mother soon had her hands full with five children. My parents taught me to love, respect, serve, and share with others, even during seasons when our own resources were limited.

As I grew older, I recognized how much their sacrifices shaped the opportunities in front of me. They also shaped the way I think about money. To me, money is not just about what we have. It is about how we use it, who we care for, and the kind of life we are trying to build.

Eventually, I chose to serve a two-year, full-time mission through my church. That experience changed my life, strengthened my foundation, and helped shape the path I continue to follow today. After returning home, a dear friend and mentor from that mission passed away from cancer. At his funeral, I watched people from many different places gather to remember him, reconnect, and reflect on the impact he had made in their lives.

That experience has stayed with me. It reminded me that true wealth is not found only in money, but also in the quality of our relationships and the good we are able to do for others. That perspective transformed the way I view money and inspired my interest in financial planning, financial self-reliance, and generosity.

Life rarely unfolds exactly as we expect. Illness, loss, relationship challenges, and unexpected setbacks can change our plans in meaningful ways. Through it all, I hope to help others remember that while we cannot always control our circumstances, we can choose how we respond and make the most of what comes.

I value vulnerability and genuine connection because they help us better understand and support one another. Personal growth has always been important to me, and I continually strive to become a better person, friend, and member of the planning team. Helping others gain clarity in their financial lives and build relationships that matter gives me a greater sense of purpose.

Spending time with family and friends is one of my greatest joys. Building meaningful relationships has always been deeply rewarding to me, and I believe each person has unique strengths and talents that can be used to serve others well.

I also recharge by spending time outdoors. Whether it’s camping, fishing, archery, mountain biking, woodworking, or gardening, I enjoy almost any opportunity to be outside.

I am actively involved in my church and enjoy serving people from all walks of life. I value opportunities to learn from others and welcome conversations with people of different backgrounds and beliefs.

Through community outreach efforts, I regularly visit with individuals and families to offer support and build connections. I also participate in visits to a local assisted living community, where groups of young adults gather to sing for residents.

During my time at BYU-Idaho, I enjoyed volunteering through service projects such as making blankets for those in need, delivering meals to elderly residents, and helping organize activities for students and community members.
